Position Overview
Reporting to the chief financial officer, the controller oversees all accounting and financial compliance operations, including the functions of revenue cycle management, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
Essential Job Functions

Physical Therapist
Department: Physical Therapy

Position Overview
Reporting to the director of Physical Therapy, the physical therapist is responsible for the treatment of residents so that they are able to perform at their maximum functional level. Through evaluation of each new patient by various muscle, neurological, gait, and functional tests, the physical therapist utilizes exercises and appropriate techniques and modalities to achieve established treatment goals.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide the care necessary to enable residents to perform at their maximum functional level
- Provide residents with techniques for maintaining their current functional level, within personal and environmental limitations
- Maintain and develop patient records and reports of physical therapy services
- Participate in the planning and procurement of equipment and supplies
- Plan, participate, and assist with staff orientation, in-service education, and other duties and activities of the Jewish Home and the community, as requested
- On physician referral, the physical therapist will evaluate each new patient, utilizing various muscle, neurological, gait, and functional tests to determine impairment
- Determine and develop individual treatment programs to achieve the prescribed rehabilitative or maintenance goals
- Make appropriate changes in the program to correspond to performance changes
- Administer direct patient care using appropriate techniques and modalities
- Instruct and supervise assistants and aides in the implementation of programs, as designated.
- Prepare, maintain, and transmit accurate patient records, including evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, attendance and services, as rendered
- Act as liaison between posthetist/orthotist in obtaining necessary equipment
- Confer with other staff members regarding progress of patients and adapt programs to fit needs
- Participate in establishing general and specific in-service programs for Jewish Home staff, such as classes in body mechanics, ROM, transfers, repetitive motion injuries
- Establish in-service programs of a specific nature for physical therapy staff and staff of the Jewish Home, upon request

Café Assistant
Department: Volunteer Services

Position Overview
Reporting to the manager of the café, the on-call café assistant will assist/complement the café staff in general maintenance of the café’s program on an on-call basis, Sunday through Friday. This position substitutes for staff who have taken time off.
Essential Job Functions
- Café duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare daily requisition forms and pick up supplies from the kitchen
- Prepare food and beverages for the day
- Assemble food orders (mostly sandwich-making)
- Make espresso drinks
- Take orders at the counter
- Cashier duties, as needed
- Wash, dry, and put away dishes
- Clean work station and café seating area
- Restock supplies
- Receive vendors’ orders, inventory and shelve supplies
- Close out cash drawer and prepare deposit
- Other responsibilities include overseeing the coffee bar in the Friedman Pavilion each day. Duties include:
- Supervise and direct volunteers
- Serve refreshments
- Oversee residents at the coffee bar and ensure they are transported back to their floors at the end of the coffee bar service
- Clean coffee bar area after service

Assistant Plant Maintenance Director
Department: Plant Operations

Position Overview
Reporting to the director of Operations/Plant Maintenance, and under general supervision, the assistant plant maintenance director assists the director of Plant Maintenance in overseeing the work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance staff. The assistant plant maintenance director will schedule, direct, and participate in daily and specialized maintenance and repairs to the facility. The assistant plant maintenance director will review and inspect the work of Plant Maintenance personnel to ensure safety compliance, as well as the effective and efficient performance of duties.
Essential Job Functions
- Assess job tasks and oversee the work of Plant Maintenance staff
- Schedule work orders and set priorities
- Act as lead to the Plant Maintenance staff
- Perform electrical work, such as repairing and replacing switches, receptacles, lights, breakers, magnet starters and relays; replace belts, motors, and filters
- Perform plumbing installations and/or repairs, soldering, and welding
- Monitor fire alarm system
- Utilize a wide array of tools, such as carpentry, electrical, mechanical, masonry, and plumbing tools
- Conduct work tasks safely and in compliance with the facility’s safety program
- Is knowledgeable of NFPA, OSHPD, and Title 22 requirements

Security Guard
Department: Plant Operations

Position Overview
Reporting to the director of Plant Operations, the security guard works as part of the security team to ensure that the Jewish Home’s residents, visitors, staff, and property are protected against fire, theft, vandalism, trespassing, or any other potential safety concern.
Essential Job Functions
- Monitor and authorize the entrance of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of the premises
- Patrol the Jewish Home’s grounds, watching for unusual activity or safety hazards. Also ensure security of doors and windows
- Control motor traffic on the Jewish Home’s grounds
- Monitor staff parking lots to ensure compliance with the Jewish Home’s parking policy
- Respond to door, Wanderguard and fire alarms, and investigate the causes
- Respond and assist in emergency situations. Call police or fire departments, as appropriate
- Receive courier and stock deliveries
- Control access to the Jewish Home’s grounds and facility after visiting hours
- Complete report documentation of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or other unusual incidences
- Answer telephone calls made to the Jewish Home’s main line, taking messages, answering questions, and providing information as necessary, or when the switchboard is closed

RN – Acute Psychiatric Unit
DEPARTMENT: Nursing
Position Overview
This position is responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive, individualized patient care.
Responsibilities
- Initiate a plan of care at time of admission. Review and update care plan based on ongoing assessment
- Review the plan of care with assigned staff
- Initiate appropriate nursing interventions, including discharge planning
- Communicate changes in patient condition, status, and needs to acute psych team
- Provide administration for treatments and medications
- Make rounds for assessment of resident needs and supervision of care
