One of the first activities in which a new resident will participate is the noon or evening meal. Nutritional Services provides clinical nutrition, as well as food services, to Jewish Home residents.
Nutritional concerns are addressed by the clinical nutrition manager, registered dietitian, and registered dietetic technician. This group meets regularly with each resident and attends care plan meetings. Working with the physicians and nursing staff, they ensure that each resident receives optimal nutrition through meals that reflect the resident’s food preferences.
Menus are planned by the Home’s executive chef and food production manager, with input from residents, staff, and community chefs versed in Jewish cuisine. The menus are reviewed by our certified dietary manager for nutritional adequacy and compliance with physicians’ orders. Regular open Food Committee meetings are held, when residents, the executive chef, dietary manager (and often the chief nursing executive) discuss meal concerns and suggestions.
All food is prepared in accordance with kosher dietary laws, and under the supervision of the Home's full-time rabbi.
